Sulapac becomes part of the Circular Economy 100 (CE100) network run by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation

Sulapac has been welcomed as a member of the Circular Economy 100 (CE100) network, which is the world’s leading circular economy network hosted by The Ellen MacArthur Foundation. The CE100 network brings together business, innovators, cities, governments, universities, and thought leaders to collaborate, share knowledge, and build new markets for circular solutions in a pre-competitive environment.

The Circular Economy 100 is a collaboration network operating under The Ellen MacArthur Foundation. The Foundation was launched in 2010 to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. It works with business, government, and academia on a global scale and aims to inspire and transmit circular economy thinking through insights & analysis, learning activities, and collaborative business opportunities. The Foundation believes that a circular economy provides a coherent framework for systems level redesign and, as such, offers an opportunity to harness innovation and creativity to enable a positive, regenerative economy.

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation recognises that business innovation sits at the heart of sustainable economic transitions. Furthermore, it acknowledges that engaging stakeholders at all scales and facilitating their cooperation is key to further the agenda of circular economy.

“This is something we at Sulapac strongly believe in. Small companies may have a big role in driving the change through bringing new innovations to market. Yet, the scale of change needed means no player or group can succeed on their own, instead, we have to take an interdisciplinary approach and work together across industries and sectors to reach a more sustainable future”, Haimi reminds.

The CE100 network which Sulapac is now a member of, connects businesses from a variety of industries to build circular capacity, address common barriers to progress, and enable the necessary conditions – together with government authorities, universities, cities and thought leaders. It also allows the piloting of circular practices, in a collaborative, pre-competitive environment.

“Participating in a ‘co.project’ might be something we are interested in. In general, the CE100 is a great channel to find new global partners who share our ambitions.”

In Finland Sulapac cooperates for example with VTT, SYKE, Luke, University of Helsinki and HAMK in research projects and with Stora Enso in product development. Business Finland, Life Line Ventures and Chanel are examples of Sulapac’s funding partners.

“Co-operation with customers is a key of our business. Throughout the whole value chain, we work with brands and plastic product manufacturers who can use their existing machinery in processing Sulapac materials. Our aim is to produce added circular value to our partners, customers and all stakeholders in the value chain”, Haimi concludes.
